Can anyone on the forum tell me if I need to apply for a residency forum if I have to apply in the area I want to purchase a house and reside there.The wife and I are off to Fuerteventura in 3 weeks for a holiday and was wondering if we could apply there or would it need to be in the Murcia area.Any help on this matter would be very much appreciated.Jim & Mary Stewart.
I am coming out to stay in Aguilas next week and I have been told I need to go to the police and apply for my NIE number to open a Spanish bank account it takes about two days

You do need an NIE to buy property and some large items like TVs Usually the solicitor can do this for you otherwise there is a form that you have to take (I believe) to the local police station

Hi take some one who speaks Spanish with you we tried in Cartegena and it was a nightmare
Thanks for the information,found a English solicitor who can apply for you and saves the hassle of waiting.The cost is 160euro for the wife and self.Was a bit sus but my cousin lives half the year in Murcia and confirmed this is becoming a popular way of getting your NIE papers and saves any language barriers.
