Hi all, we are in a quandary as to what heating source to choose. Log burner or pellet burner. We would welcome input from anyone who has experience of the pellet burner, they seem to be less messy.
Thanks.

I have used a pellet fire for the past three years. In many ways it is good but expensive to buy and it has to be installed by a good company which is more expense.Additionaly it must be serviced by a competent engineer currently charging me 60 euros a year. While you are using it you must clean it every day before lighting it which I find a bit of a chore. However in terms of effectiveness I have a large house and my pellet fire heats the whole house.
I suppose, in that respect, it's no different to a log burner having to be cleaned and maintained. We were more interested in knowing whether the noise from the motor was intrusive and have you seen a marked increase in electricity costs since using it.
Thanks.

The noise from the fan is not overly intrusive however it will up the cost of electricity.

Hi many thanks for the reply. I guess we will have to try and weigh up the slight rise in electric costs and the lower pellet price as opposed to higher wood costs and possible smoke invasion on refilling the appliance.
Cheers.
It depends on what model house you have. We have a Neptuno and we tried a log burner, messy and lots of work. A pellet one did seem to be much less work so we discarded that idea. An oil system is too expensive to install and so we opted for gas. We have run this for 3 years and have averaged 30 bottles a year at only €12 a bottle and that covers all our heating, hot water and cooking all for only €30 a month. There is no mess and occasionally I have to change a gas bottle. No contest, go gas.
Hi, we have a Fortuna model, so not that big of a house. We hadn't considered gas as we thought it might be too expensive to run radiators etc. Might we ask, who did the installation for you. The amount you stated does seem very reasonable indeed over the year. Will have to seriously have a rethink. Thankyou.
I used Cosy Casas. They do a lot of work on Camposol and have given me excellent service. You should use less gas than me as we have an upstairs to heat as well. It pays to have a gas cooker because when the bottle runs out on the boiler there is always a small amount of gas left with enough pressure to run our cooker for several days. Obviously you use more gas in the winter but we hardly buy any gas from the end of March to beginning of November.
Thanks for that, I'll give them a try.
