Hi my husband and I are retiring from the uk to Archena Spain and applying for residency
We need health care can anyone recommend an insurance company and do you know what the cost would be(approximately)

We used Sanitas (part of the BUPA group) and paid approx. €1,400 pa, including dental care, for 2 people (aged 49 &51, with no pre-existing conditions).
The cover needs to have no 'co-payments' and be paid up front and you should specify that you want cover that is accepted on an NLV (assuming that's what you are applying for).
It's worth shopping around, as costs can vary significantly (e.g. on the same criteria, another company quoted us nearly €6,000pa!).
I have also seen DKV recommended by several others on this forum.

That's like asking if BUPA is in Hull..?
I believe that they work with doctors, clinics, hospitals all across Spain.
When we joined we asked for a list of doctors in our area and then chose who to register with.
