Reading your post..it doesn't take long to work out that you have never been to  Camposol.. Camposol is known as Little England ..so if it's all things Spanish you are after ..you are definitely looking in the wrong place.

Don’t really get what you mean , I lived in America next to little Italy, and China town , but the ltalians and Chinese spoke English, also lived in Britain next to little India, and they spoke English,  so because it’s little Britain we don’t try , does it not make you feel ashamed others try in different countries, but you don’t ?.. im not really getting your point , because I’m British I expect everyone to do things for me , sorry I’m not one of those people, it’s only 600 words in any country is enough to get by , so I’ve already started counting the Spanish words I’ve learned, again thank you any information is always welcome, thank you Hugh 

There are Spanish lessons in Tels bar on B and Marianos on A. All the bars and most of the shops are English or English speaking. Spanish will help in the chino shop supermarket and the Post Office.

The town and port are very Spanish along with nearby villages.

You rarely hear Spanish spoken on Camposol but it certainly helps to learn it. My husband has been going to lessons for nearly a year and tries to speak what he can when off Camposol.

Thanks so much I’d definitely try there .As much as you try at home it’s the pronunciation of the words ,and putting them into the proper conversation, that you just don’t get from books and tapes , but I have started watching as much Spanish television just now , just to start hearing tones , and expression of the way Spanish people communicate, again thank you so much all this information does help thank you Hugh 

Spanish TV won't really help you become fluent. There is a course available online called "Spanish with Paul" which I found extremely useful. Makes absolute sense and logically puts sentences together without getting bogged down in technicalities.

I hope you enjoy your move to Spain and we'll done for trying to integrate. 

I thought you made a fine point referring to your time in the US & living next to different ethnic groups. I was entertained when I found myself in a bus in Washington and they had signs declaring "We speak English". If it had been California it wouldn't have seemed so strange but Washington. That's the way of the world now. Global village and all that  

Thank very much , yeah I’m practising by talking to my dog , the dogs learning more than me , I’ve got books and DVDS ,but any thing that helps , I’ll try ,I’m doing a couple of hours a day then playing my dvds before I go to sleep lol , it’s coming along . But you think your good till your speaking in front of a Spaniard and starts laughing lol thanks I’ll definitely try that , any information is always helpful thank you 

If you are speaking in front of a Spaniard, always remember that a double ll is pronounced as a y. Remember this especially if you are ordering chicken (Pollo) in Spanish at a restaurant etc." Poyo " otherwise the waitress might give you a slap.

Not sure if this is good advice. My understanding of the double LL is that it's pronounced like millionaire - so the first "l" is pronounced L  and the second "l" becomes a Y.  Saving Mil yon aire. That would make pollo POL YO. Correct me if I'm wrong.
