Hi, I'm looking to buy a place in the future so I was just wondering what residents opinion is on noise and privacy? The homes look very 'open' with little chance of privacy? Also, can you play music (not at disco levels) without upsetting the neighbours?

Thanks in advance! :)

You should firstly appreciate that this is an "outdoors" society, and that particularly in summer people are out until 3 or 4 am. This means inevitably there will be some noise - from you and all your neighbours. In theory the local police will act to try and stop extreme cases, but not many neighbours will appreciate your calling in the law!

Neighbour disputes can ruin lives, so be prepared to practise diplomacy.

Remember also that Spain is reckoned to be the second noisiest country in the world - it is part of the culture.

Hi Peter

Thanks for your reply, sounds good to me! I was a bit worried living so close that people may be intolerant of normal noise levels, but this sounds perfect (excuse the pun!)

We are on D and its peaceful. Neighbours respect each other. I play my music to a level I can hear without disturbing neighbours. In the summer if neighbours have friends round we all leave to go home by midnight and definitely no loud music after then. Covid has its advantages 馃槅 total peace and quiet

We live on lower C. It is quiet and peaceful. My wife often comments on this issue. Once there is a total lifting of the lockdown restrictions there will be a lot more people around which may result inmore noise but that will be negligible. It鈥檚 a good place to live.

Hi, I would advise that if you like your music you would be better suited to maybe B or C sector, the owners of A and D are mostly retired who seem to thrive on peace and quiet, not that that is a bad thing, but you could always visit the bars on Sector B for entertainment most nights.

Depends on your neighbours and your taste in music. Like someone else has said Spain is a noisy country and when talking Spaniards always seem to be arguing and falling out, they aren鈥檛 it is just their speech mode.

Bring back the days when the bars on A used to play music outdoors until 2.30 in the morning.

Sat on our roof terrace in the moonlight listening to it with a snifter or two.

The bars and music had to stop before midnight.

Stopping before midnight was a recent thing.

I am talking about 15 years ago.

There were certainly no restrictions then.
