Hi,

I posted a message a while ago regarding time taken to get a Padron from Los Alcazares town hall. The real facts are, I waited 4 weeks for an appointment and attended and then was told all my paperwork was correct and I would receive my Padron in the post 2 weeks later. What I thought was the Padron arrived 2 weeks later which I presented to my agent to apply for a residencia only to be told it was in fact only a notice to inform me that I had completed the Padron application correctly and to collect the actual Padron from the town hall. So off I go again to the town hall And was told that I need an appointment which would be in about 4 weeks. Time from start to finish about 10 weeks. This is what it actually takes, so be prepared. Fact!

On another point, I was told by 2 different professional agents (who will remain nameless to protect the guilty) that residencias are not longer being issued after the end of March due to 90/180 rules. Not so!,  The truth is the 90/180 rule has nothing to do with residencia.  Residencia applications are accepted up to 30th June 2021. Also you do not need all of the documents required at the time the application is made as they can be added later. So get you application registered before June 30th. But make sure everything is in place before they look at your application ( about 4  months so I am told)  However best to make sure all documents are presented and correct before June 30th.

Last piece of info, get proper and correct info before attempting paperwork in Spain, expect a long wait. Don’t get your info from social media sites.

If in any doubt about applying for residencia go to the U.K. website for the Brexit withdrawal agreement (WA) where the true facts and cut off dates are clearly stated.

Good luck.

You seem to have really had some bad luck with your application to get onto the Padrón in Los Alcázares. I know how you feel! I must say that I was surprised at what a total lack of organisation the Los Alcázares Ayuntamiento had when we were trying to obtain our own padrón certificates there, in order to bring our personal stuff over from the Canary Islands. I understand that now, you can go online to get an appointment but back at the end of October, it was necessary to get up at the crack of dawn and join the long queue outside the Ayuntamiento by 7 a.m. in order to be given a number for that day and then return home and come back later, in time for your number to be called. And once you had done the necessary paperwork and paid various amounts of 3€ from the machine in the reception, you had to repeat the entire experience 10 days later, in order to pick up the document and then you could join another queue to get an actual padrón certificate! A few weeks later, they obviously realised that making 100 or so people stand in a queue for several hours and having to come back several times for the same thing, wasn't conducive to social distancing, so then changed their system to an online appointment system. Well, they got there in the end, I suppose! What a difference to when we finally moved into our new house in San Pedro del Pinatar, where we got an appointment to register for the Padrón online, for 3 days ahead, went there at the appointed time, went straight in, filled in the document, paid nothing at all and went away 15 minutes later with padrón certificates in our hands! We can also download new ones free from the Ayuntamiento's website with our digital certificates. Good luck with finally achieving yours! And for the correct, up-to-date information on residencia, driving licences and all the other things that may be worrying people at the moment, join the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain's Facebook group or go to their website, where they have all the latest information directly from both the Spanish and the UK governments.... and you can also ask all those questions that are niggling you.

It also means that as a resident in Spain you have to complete your annual tax return and pay Spanish tax here as was said previously "it is the law".  People living here as residents and applying for their TIE will now be flagged up for their tax return and possible investigation  - penalties are very high in Spain!!!!!!

Yes, I would think that you need to be a resident before you can register your S1. As I mentioned before, check out the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain's Facebook group and website, as they have the latest information.

Hola    the residencia   is now updated  to the TIE     as you are in Los Alcazares

look for   the Liberty Seguros office     (far end of 525  turn left at pizza place   keep going past the Tabac   up to the roundabout

first exit        the office is on your left )      they  carry out   insurance     driving licences    TIE     etc       so may help with your padron

(keep in mind things are very slow   to do with the virus

Or if you need a fresh padron certificate go to the OMITA office in the same building as the Los Narejos centro de Salud. The helpful lady there will take your details the give you an appointment for the next day to collect them - no cost.

I manage most bits of Spanish bureaucracy but find the Los Alcázares Ayuntamiento website impenetrable..
