Have you read the Imperial College Paper?  The measures brought in so far, have never been used in the last 120 years, except during two world wars. Listen to the UK and US experts, if deaths run into the millions, mate its an extremely dangerous situation.

It's not a world war, stop scaremongering!

Don't always agree with you zacdog but in this case..... 

No one is at war and even if the figures are correct this is sţill scaremongering and we don't need.it!

Keep calm - no need for all this scaremongering. As Cpl Jones said on many occasion Don't Panic Mr Mainwaring - at the end of the day it's not a war where there is missiles, bullets and nukes flying overhead - it's a war on a virus - if we all self isolate as much as possible the virus will die out. Let's put this in perspective - if you suffer with a bad chest, or other health issues (self isolate for 14 days) do food shopping online or ask a neighbour - get it dropped of at your door - do not open the door and let the kind neighbour or delivery driver in for a chat and a cuppa!!!!

Just the sort of silly scaremongering that causes mass panic.

Hand on heart, which of you read the whole 20 page document, before commenting? 

The Imperial College is the principal advisor to the British Government on Coronavirus. The British Government did not think they were scaremongering, they realised that they had to change course.

if you believe for a moment that after 15 days of self isolation this is all going to go away, you are destined to be sadly disappointed. The UK response will be toughened during this week.

Still not war my friend, nor is it biological warfare, it's called s viral pandemic.  Nobody needs to read a 20 page report, these are all over  the internet, take your pick. The most accurate way to obtain the Info at the required level is via news headlines, just sift through the media dramatics and take on board the basics to get through safely.  A strong community spirit like what Camposol appears to have is what's required,  'within the bounds of official guidelines'.  This hub will prove priceless!  Not all reports are usefull to everyone, the ones governing where you live are though. You mention your experience within 'biological reporting', so what?  I'm an Army trained Instructor in Nuclear Biological and Chemical warfare,  It makes me no different from Joe Bloggs down the street today in this situation! 

The Imperial College is not 'any' report, its not a newspaper story or a missive from you or me, its the body that advises the UK Government. 

The paper you apparently have not read is the reason why the British government has changed tack. They had decided they would just let the infection run, but the Imperial College showed this would overwhelm the NHS with horrific number of deaths (250,000) so they switched back towars the French and Spanish measures.

The reason I posted it originally it was to flag the seriousness of the situation.

If your definition requires the deployment of guns, bombs and nuclear weapons, it is not a war. 

Forget the semantics, recognise this is a dangerous situation, that everyone needs to understand.

As I write this, the British PM has in the first two minutes of his press conference, said to defeat the novel coronavirus Cov-19. It is going to require a wartime level sacrifice from everyone.

'We have never in peacetime faced a challenge like this' says the British Chancellor. 

Might be really worthwhile reading the Imperial college paper on the viral pandemic?

That might help you understand why and how governments are acting as they to win the battle against this invisible enemy.
