Hi, any advice would be appreciated as we are looking at taking our Spanish registered and insured car for a month long tour of Morocco later this year when we are able to travel!!!!!!!!!!  We are both UK passport holders with Spanish TIEs. We are looking at travelling via Algeciras to Tangiers Med so my question is are there any issues I need to be aware of as I see there are some forms/paperwork to be filled out either before or while on the actual ferry - just want to make the journey to Morocco as easy as possible.  Many thanks for any advice or pointers.

I would be interested to learn how you get on once the restrictions are lifted and we can travel as I would like to go back to Morocco especially as its now a lot closer. Keep us updated please and safe travels. Atlas mountains are fab

We were looking at going for June BUT with the vaccination mess here in Spain/Murcia we have rebooked all the hotels for September - hopefully we will have had both our jabs 💉💉 by then and passport “stamped “ on our forehead!!  But then we are definitely not holding our breath!!

Sounds like a great idea!

You don't need a visa for a tourist trip to Morocco, but, as with any holiday you should take out appropriate travel insurance - also remembering that as you're outside the EU then your EHIC will not cover anything.

Recommended vaccines are here:

I would also recommend checking your car insurance. Most companies allow limited trips within Europe, but you should check if this extends to Morocco. You may also need an International Driving Permit, but I'm not sure (and also have no idea how you would get one in Spain - sorry).

Hope this helps!

HI many thanks for your comments.

Travel insurance is always a must, actually EHIC cards never covered Morocco so no issue there.

Also most car insurance in Spain also covers Morocco (green card) - my insurance has been with Liberty Seguros who automatically cover Morocco and also provide a green card.  Also Spanish driving licence (I have had one for many years) is acceptable in Morocco so no need for international driving permit.  As an aside for others who need one - IF you have a Spanish driving licence you make an appointment at your local Traffic Department and apply for one there - plenty of paperwork etc needed!!!!!!!  Not as easy in the UK where you can get it via your AA or RAC shop or if I remember many years ago your local post office - not here of course!!!!

Finally my main original enquiry was about paperwork for getting on or while on the actual ferry, I know that there is some paperwork (immigration) that has to be presented to Moroccan customs/police but don't know what it is - that is apart from passport, driving licence, car insurance (green card) and your car registration documents - also not forgetting your TIE (if you have one so much easier) or old residencia form for your return to Spain.
