Hi. I am just starting the process and all seems reasonably clear but I do not understand what a "Valid UK residence permit is" Born and bred British Can anyone explain please
This is only required for non-British citizens. British citizens / subjects do not need to provide this.
Hope this helps!

Hi Vic
I am going to start this process but it all looks so daunting to me, do you know where to get your documents legalized and sworn into Spanish ?
These are my main concerns along with the timescales to have everything done by.
Have you booked your appointment at the consulate yet ? Do you know how long you will have to wait for the appointment ? and do you get all the documents ready before making the appointment as most of the documents have a time limit validity ?
Sorry to bombard you with all of these questions but we do not kniow where to find all of these answers.
Many Thanks

Hi Ang. Sorry i haven't replied sooner. I have been trying to get everything sorted. I have started using a lawyer firm in San Javier to help me with any problems. They are [email protected]. FAO Gloria and mention Victor Lightfoot. They have given me all the info I need and booked an appoointment with spanish consulate now. Consulate in London is only open on Fridays at the moment. You can download all the forms you need and I used Adobe to fill them in to make sure they can be read. A bit of a problem translating from Spanish but all Ok. The Criminal record certificate is the hardest as they ask for Passport photo to be attached to the application and the jpg was too large. It took me a long while to "reduce" and send off and after 3 weeks they came back to say it was no good - send again. I tried e-mail but also sent a proper passport photo by post. this worked straight away.! Legalisation can be done in milton Keynes. Send the original documents by post or courier if it's urgent. My spanish lawyers will do the Official Spanish translation but have to post this to you. No e-mail copies!! I am taking a copy of my Birth Certificate just in case but not rwally necessary. As far as I can see the Financial bit is obviously any pension documents plus adequate Funds in either Spain, UK or both.
I hope this helps unless you have got it sorted by now. Let me know how you get on and I will do the same.
Regards
Vic L

Thanks. The latest info from the Ministerio does now state this. I also note that they are only open on Friday mornings I am having trouble with the "sworn translation into Spanish!
A certified translation is called Traduccion Jurada in Spanish and may only be produced by a Spanish State Registered Traductor Jurado.
Can anyone recommend somewhere in England that provides this service or do I have to go through a Spanish Commpany?
I appreciate your help.

We appear to be at similar stages.
We have all the documents (we hope), but are waiting for the Hague Apostille legalisation for the police certificates and medical certificates to be received back.
I was quoted £45 per page for Sworn Translation by a specialist company, but now the Spanish solicitors we are using (BeGlobal, based in Barcelona) are doing the translations for us, as part of their overall service.
Vic L - can you share how far ahead you had to make your appointment with the consulate - e.g. if I contacted them today would I expect an appointment in 2,3,4 weeks, etc.?
One thing we forgot was that apparently the consulate keep your passports until the NLV is approved, so you can't travel in this time (we had thought that we would submit the application, travel to Spain and then go back to collect the visa).

Hi Rich
You are slighly ahead of me. I am still waiting for the Criminal Certificate. The jpeg was too big and the reduced size was unclear so i posted a copy and i still have to get the Apostile Legalisation. Hopefully that wont be too long. I am using Lawyers in San Javier and they booked my appointment. First offer was 16th April but that was too soon so changed to 30th April. So i would guess about 2 weeks. I have found a company for the Sworn translation that is about 20 minutes from me so just waiting for a price etc. I am booked to fly out on 22nd May (fingers crossed) so I need to get everything completed by then! I didn't know about the passport, I assumed that they just kept the photocopies . Never realised how many pages a passport has!! Please keep in touch so we can share any advice with each other and anyone else that needs it.
