I would completely ignore these comments from this poster who actually lives inland and not on the Mar Menor.
The water quality is fine in Santiago La Ribera and I see many people of all nationalities swimming and just having fun unfortunately I have not been able to venture in yet owing to a bad foot but will be in the water very soon, and I am sure I will not come out green and glowing
I am also quite sure there would be no problems in Los Alcazares but cannot give a truthful answer because I do not cycle down that way.
There is and has been for many years a problem with run off from the fields but that is mainly further up towards Cartagena and La Manga. Which is unfortunate for the villages on the beaches.
Enjoy a good swim :-).
