Hiya
Can anyone advise on the best method to keep flies at bay.
We have tried candles, sprays and electric zapper and still it’s difficult to sit on terrace without their company. I’d appreciate any tips anyone has, I’m not talking about one or two.

I have come to that conclusion after so many failed attempts to keep them away. I intend to go to the local agricola to price a roll of mosquitera net and cover a gazebo cos they stress me out trying to eat outside. Funny how they never show that side of things on Place in the Sun. It looks so perfect but reality is far from that.

Thank you both, I thought the idea might be to try and screen the terrace.
Meanwhile we’ll make the best of it and enjoy the house and gardens.

We made a temporary enclosure, using rolls of nylon mozzie net. It was heath-robinson, but it was 99% effective. We were able to eat outside in the evenings quite comfortably. But, over a year or two, the sun degraded the nylon and it failed.
We are now planning a new one (made by pros) using glass-fibre net.

Thaw enclosure sounds like a great idea, would you mind sharing who is making your new enclosure.
It sounds like the perfect answer, to al fresco dining.

We had these guys give us an approx price. It was roughly what we expected.
(They can't provided a detailed price yet, as we are having some alterations done, and the finished terrace will be a bit different from the current arrangement).

been on their website and this is what I have been looking for for many years. Used to them in US where we had a timeshare for 12 years and wondered why not so common in Spain. Anyway we brought over a 12x8ft lean to greenhouse (complete with glass! ) but have decided to screen it instead. It,ll be a DIY job but if it can last a few years before repairs that's OK. Good luck on yours hope you get it done soon and enjoy bug free dining.

Our experience with the nylon netting .... if stretched pretty tight, it was ok.
But if allowed to "bunch-up" (like curtains), the wind movement/sun degraded it.
If you make it work, it will preserve your sanity !
