Hi. My wife and I are moving permanently to Spain in September. I’m thinking about buying a finca in Yecla. I’d like to know what the weather is like year-round there. I’m used to the cold in the south of England but I’m not keen on swapping England for living in an area of Spain where it snows every year and is, say, 10 degrees Celsius for 4 months of every year. Websites on Yecla only give average temperatures. Help anyone!! Paul

This gives highs, lows, chance of rain, cloud, wind & snow - all by month. It says no chance of snow!
Our property is south-west from Yecla, but similarly in the countryside / foothills, away from the coast. This winter (November - February) we found that the days were generally bright & sunny, about 16-17'C; but the nights were quite cool - down as low as 4'C. You'll probably find that most properties have a fireplace and/or woodburners and they're not just for show! Then March - October temperatures are mid-20s to mid-30s.

We live in the campo 7km from Yecla centre, yecla is approx 600m above sea level so can be cold in the winter months and we did have snow this year, but believe me it is a welcome after the heat of the summer, especially if you get a property that needs a lot of work outside you’ll be glad of the cooler weather. End of July start of August can get into the early 40’s.
it is a farming town so does get rain that can last for a couple of weeks at a time or the odd storm when conditions allow.

I said to my wife I don’t want to go to Spain to live in a similar climate to the one in England as it defeats the whole purpose of moving to Spain in the first place. Torrevieja has a wonderful climate but our house is 37 square metres and the plot is only 300! We have the additional problem of trying to get residencia before December 31st - we have found out that we need €9000 per person in our bank account to get residencia but we don’t have that!! My gestor says don’t worry as you will have €1600 monthly income (from the rental of our house in England and my monthly pension) but I’m not sure. Brexit has certainly mucked things up and Boris won’t ask for an extension to the transition period. I said to my wife I’m staying in Spain until I get residencia - I won’t be returning to England ever! I will say to the estate agent re the property in Yecla I’m interested in that I won’t sign anything until the water deposit is fixed so that we can use it for drinking water. Your thoughts about residencia? Paul

Although I'm not currently a resident, I've noticed on this forum that there appears to be a lot of conflicting advice around what is needed now and after Brexit to get residency. One thing is that it appears a lot easier to do this year than post-Brexit.
Some posters have been advised that as long as you own your property outright that counts as 'money in the bank' and then you just need the €800 per person per month income; so it might be worth getting a second opinion...

My mother lives in Ciudad Quesada & she has fallen in love with yecla as it’s not so humid as where she lives.
Because Yecla is in Murcia we managed to get our residences done at the local police station.We used a company in Pinoso to do all the paperwork to make sure everything was correct before going for the appointment.Each area will require different things as in how much money you have in the bank etc.

Who did you use to help with resistencia, my husband and I wish to become resident, but COVID has delayed our move to Spain permanently
Like you we’d like to check we have everything before proceeding to apply for our residency in Yecla.

The company is called TFX ( The Foreign Exchange) in Pinoso,they helped with our residencia, spanish driving licence.
