I bank with santander is the spanish bank of the same name the same bank? If it is would i just need to change details when we come over?
Its the same parent company but not the same bank if you see what I mean.
You will be able to use your UK Santander account in Spain but you will have to open a Spanish Santander account to pay Spanish bills etc in euro's.

They are completely different banks ....only the name is the same and maybe better to look around at other banks before you go straight to Santander!

This is correct. I banked in England with Santander for ten years and they would not transfer my account or funds to Santander in Spain. They confirmed there is no link between the two countries. I had to close the account and open a bank account in Spain. Now all the Uk linked banks, Barclays Halifax etc have left Spain. The bank I use, LaCaixa, a savings bank bought Barclays Spain recently to get their highly trained staff, but not wanting all the branches.
