I was going to my bank on Tuesday my branch is in Santiago de la Ribera and took my dog with me we walked along the Paseo I had a bit of lunch on the way back I was stopped by guardia Civil the questioned me and I explained I had been to my bank they asked me to show a receipt and then told me to go straight home I wasn’t allowed asked for my passport and my address so I don’t know what I did wrong?

That’s what I thought I didn’t think I was breaking any rules I was on my own with my dog and apart from another couple who were in the distance I was the only person on the Paseo? The restaurants & bars all had a good few customers in them that’s why I’ve been on here asking to clarify it  as I don’t want to be fined or break the rules and they already have my name address passport number ?o just don’t understand?

Hi I know some rules have changed regarding people, but have the laws regarding walking the dog?

I believed they were only to be taken local to your home and only to do their business.

It seems this could be a grey area

Why dont you contact the Guarda Civil and ask them but as someone says ( and I have heard this before) they have so much information being given to them on an everchanging basis that they too are confused .The problem is when you are in a position of power and are confused with a fine book in your pocket then that is not a good recipe especially if you got out of bed the wrong side in the morning.

You can’t take your dog in the car, that’s probably why you were stopped. You can take them with you to bars/restaurants if it is within walking distance. So in answer to your question....no you can’t take your dog to the paseo. Sorry
