We found that if you bank with Cajamar taking out house insurance with them (and joining as members) gives us free banking, which is getting harder to find.

It depends if you are a Non Resident or not. We have a holiday home and found a company online called Intasure were the best for us :
If you are living in Spain I would recommend going to a few different independent Insurance companies in Spain and seeing which one will give you the best quote. We were with our Spanish bank insurance for a few years and then realised they were expensive compared to the independent companies and also it was hard to get out of as they never sent a renewal in advance, so we didn't know each year how much it had gone up to until they had taken the payment. When we asked to cancel they asked for 3 months notice in writing (not email!). We had never heard anything like it but now with Intasure we get the new premium in advance each year.
So my advice would be to check out any company you go with, particularly if it's your bank, and see if you will be sent a renewal notice in advance and if it's as easy to change companies as it should be and get the best price by getting quotes from a few.
In the UK I use the compare websites and change our insurances every year for the better price but not sure if they have them for Spain.

Not as user-friendly as some of the UK sites but can be useful is "rastreator.com"
