HI All

We have a 5 bed villa and the electricity keeps going off. I need to upgrade the system. Does anyone know anything about this please? I called iberdrola and they said I need to go from 5 to 11 (whatever that means!) just wondering what this involves?

many thanks, katie

It means that your rated supply will be increased from 5kw to 11kw.

All Iberdrola will do is increase the size ( rating ) of your main fuse.

So simply put you can use 5 1kw electric heaters at the same time now before your electric trips off.

Upgrade to an 11kw supply & you will be able to use 11 1kw heaters at the same time.

Be warned though that you will see your standing charge more than double.

Have a look at Iberdrolas website most of it is in English

Hello, Just before you decide on uprating to 11kW, increasing your standing charge by at least double...

1 .is the "cutting out" recent or has it always been the case?

2) If it is recent have you started to use new or different appliances?

It may mean you just have a faulty appliance somewhere.

I upgraded my supply with Iberdrola from 3.3 kw to 3.45, which is the max they would allow without getting my wiring checked and certified by an independent qualified electrician. And yes it still cuts out, a little less often. And I think the increase in standing charge was less then 20 quid a month.

Crazy though that you we have to pay more for the ability to use more electric without necessarily using more !
