Hi, we have a Spanish registered car and the insurance is about to run out. I am looking for a local insurance company, or broker that we can use to renew this on an annual basis. Can anybody offer any suggestions please? I hope everyone is enjoying this fantastic weather as much as we are. 😊 Thanks. Bob

No recommdations but remember vthat you need to give 2 month's notice to your insurance company before you can move.

We use Linea Direct - the Spanish version of Direct Line. They have an English-speaking service and were fairly competitive price-wise.

The period of cancelling an insurance policy changed in 2016 this is from the CAB web site

Since the 1st of January of 2016, a notice period of at least ONE month is now sufficient to cancel any insurance policy before the renewal date. Used to be two months. The cancellation should be in writing and we suggest that you send this as a certified letter.

Insurers however, are still held to the two months to inform you as the insured party of any changes to the policy, like a price increase. If they fail to comply, don´t inform you or inform you late, you have the right to refuse this increase and continue to pay the old premium, or to cancel the insurance altogether as the insurance company has failed to meet the conditions that both parties have signed.

If your insurance company is not aware of this new law, you can quote them this:

Hi have used Lineadirecta for a number of years and always have a good deal. and would thoroughly recommend.them.

I would say that never to accept their first price, and say you want to look around, ask them to call you back in a few days.

I insure both my property and car with them and they will be calling me today at my request as I have received my car renewal policy witch is a good price but I will still haggle'

They are asking 222.90 euros fully comprehensive with no excess, full breakdown cover and  curtesy car included.

I will accept this, but I am sure all there sales people know I like a haggle so may get some off.

They actually paid for a new smart tv last year as I dropped one while moving it to another wall bracket, it was not officially covered but they said as I was a good customer they would in the circumstances pay for it.

If you know anyone that you can ask to recommend you, they are offering a 30 euro discount and 30 euros to the person that recommends you at the moment.

This is a good insurance comparison site.   https://www.rastreator.com/seguros.aspx?

This is interesting. I’m with Mapfre. I am never informed of the annual increase. They never respond to correspondence. I had a rather large crack appear down the gable end of my house last year after, what I was told by my neighbor, was some rather tropical winds similar to mini tornado. Went into the local office and eventually after some google translating she agreed to get someone to inspect the property. 12 days later (the day before we flew back to UK) after many messages to that office someone finally came. After again google translating, he said it was ground movement!! Nobody else’s property had any cracks on their walls!!

Messaged for a full report and to date have heard nothing from them. I had to find a builder who could fix the wall.

I will be changing my insurance this year as every year my premiums go up but get no notifications.

Sorry for lengthy moan
