Hi,

We are Richie and Lisa from the UK and new to the forum. We are looking to retire to Spain and have a few areas in mind. However,  we do like some areas around the Costa Calida region and have noticed some nice houses in Calasparra at reasonable prices. We are not familiar with the area and are looking for some guidance please?

Access to airports, the sea and the countryside/mountains is perfect for us as long as the sea is around half an hourish away and airports within an hour.

We dont want to be isolated but then again dont want to be in the middle of a busy tourist area. Our priority is quality of life with comfortable, clean and scenic surroundings if we are honest.

Thanks in advance.

regards

The sea is at least 1 hour away from that location, so it doesn't fit with what you say you require.

We recently bought a townhouse in Dolores de Pacheco, about 3 miles inland from the Mar Menor. It's a Spanish village with some holiday-home developments on the outside edges. I don't think you need to go far inland to escape the main tourist scene.

Thanks. I will have a look at the area. Sounds interesting. Cheers.

Very interesting. I need to really get some serious info in that area!

Above all else you need to visit a variety of areas for a few days and get a feel for the places you like the most.

Hiya. We are inland in the Bullas/Mula region because we wanted to be around an hour from Alicante airport.  Beach is 45 mins away.  Calasparra is a fair bit inland again, so depends on whether airport transfer time is important to you. Also, the weather can be severely different there compared to where we are, temperatures around 5-6 degrees lower and typically wetter which can make a huge difference outside of the May to October season, so to speak. It really is critical to come out and explore the area. Good luck with your search🤞
