Hi Scot,
Use Transferwise, it will save you a fortune.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Suggest you don't leave it until the last minute to register with any currency transfer company: these days they all seem to want loads of ID - copies of recent utility bills, passports, budgie' age, mother-in-law's inside leg measurement....before they actually will accept your money, let alone transfer it.

I use TransferWise each month to move money to Spain for bills but I paid for the villa using currenciesdirect. No problem with them. Think I did 4 transactions of around 40k a time and saved a load.
Thanks for the replys
Sounds like transfer wise is the one
Cost me £6400 to send €7000 euro today
Thanks again

Transfer wise is great for small amounts. For our cash purchase I used IFX in London. The money was received the same day they sent it. They will buy the euros for you when the rate is good and they are locked in until you give them the say so to send. It is a gamble as rates go up and down but it worked well for us and was better than transfer wise for a large purchase.
Thanks will bear that in mind

We used currencies direct to actually purchase the villa and to transfer our initial deposit in the bank. Good rate and no issues plus they have offices on B sector next to the Caixa bank
