Hi everyone,
Do you need a TV licence in Spain? and if so, what is the cost? As here in England the BBC has just announced that the free licences the over 75`s have been allowed is now finished!!!!
The ITV have now started a campaign to stop it before it starts. Especially after the D Day celebrations!!
No TV licence required in Spain..........

Many years ago the Spanish government tried to introduce a licence fee, but everyone said they would not pay anything for the rubbish being broadcast so the idea was abandoned...
Somewhat niggled that having just bought a UK hideaway, and needing a tv licence for the first time in 15 years....guess what birthday is next for us?!

No licence required, it's one of the only things that's not taxed here, enjoy whilst you can
Thanks Stevieb but what do you mean " it`s one of the only things that's not taxed here". Is Spain as highly taxed as England ie: clothes, food, petrol...…. etc...… all VAT added, other than children`s clothes?

Yes Linda it is, there was talk of them taxing the sun (in a roundabout sort of way)
Just to add Linda, where our utility bills in Uk are taxed with a lower rate of vat of 5% as classed as essentials, in Spain they,re taxed at the standard rate if 21% and therefore a lot dearer than Uk.
