Hi,

Does any one know what happened in the voting, did our local candidate get in?

I heard only about 400 plus bothered to vote, is this true ?

I believe 481 people on camposol voted ,the question that should be asked is why so little ? Whether right or wrong it deserves an explanation.

Even now, in the last days of the EU Raj, there are many non-Spaniards living below the radar - paying no taxes, not signed on, not registered as residents, and obviously not on the register of voters. Many have little contact with Spanish residents nor read Spanish newspapers or watch Spanish tv, so they don't even know that there was an election, and certainly don't know who to vote for.

Given the despicable state of politics everywhere at the moment there will of course be many who have decided not to vote for anyone!

Spot on Peter c ,living below the radar I suspect it's the main reason ,however if it looks like a IBI rebate is in the offering, the Cdip meeting hall is rammed.I have thought and wondered why the bench of Cdip volunteers ,didn't realise this in this case,it must be a real disappointment to Cdip especially watching those empty buses going to the polling station ,plus having done all that hard work to get people to vote.I can't add to your comment ,other than a touch of Niavity from the bench possibly .I found in my opinion for what it's worth ,a very Autocratic style of leadership that I saw at the CDip meetings sometimes  ,some people acting like they were at a hitler youth rally. I heard and saw people with genuine valid points of view be humiliated and some real rubbish be spouted out to residence just to get a hand vote ,which I believe was counter productive .Sad really as the overall point was to help Camposol residents but as the saying goes altered and  plagurised I know "you can please some of the people some of the time, some none of the time"Im sure others will have different views, worth putting them on here .

That is a crap turnout, lets hope that is the end of the moaning on Camposol, if residents can't be asked then end of.

Perhaps you could look into how many are on the padron and have signed up to vote? Property owners who are not resident - that is holiday home folk - cannot vote anyway. In Los Alcázares over 70% of the electorate voted, a good figure I think (though I would back a change to the Australian system of compulsory voting with fines for non-compliance - you can always submit a spoiled paper or empty envelope).

Agree,

So Camposol residents cannot now moan about anything, they all had there chance, so thats the end of that. SAD.

I agree, but it won't be the end of it as you put it as there are professional moaners amongst us

I think a lot of people particularly older Spanish had no schooling so live under the radar, often in the charity shop we find Spanish people who come in ask how much yet everything is priced?

Where we lived before, in the campo inland from Málaga lots of the older people could hardly read and write, or do numbers, as in an agricultural area families needed all hands on deck to tend the fields. This area too is heavily reliant on farming, so no doubt there is the same legacy.
