Does anyone has any idea what's going to happen to Expats in Spain after the Brexit? Would it be advantageous to register as a resident in Spain.
What you need is a crystal ball i think.
That's really funny and I love your reply 😁😀
I doubt we will be rounded up and shipped back to the UK. We spend rather a lot of money here. I don't know how many UK expats live in Camposol but if there are 500 couples here spending their pensions that would be half a million monthly. There are many more in other parts of Spain. But I'm sure there is someone out there who knows better 😊
I totally agree with your statement. Afterall, the house or villa bought by the individual is bringing more income into the economy. Having said that, the daily expenses is quite substantial and wouldn't think that the Spanish government would like to see the back of us. In other words, we are here to stay. No extradition for us. Long live EngSpan residents.

Common sense says that is would be rather stupid for a Government to turn it's back on a large percentage of it's income. Brits, whether resident in Spain or tourists, account for about a third of Spain's GDP. If ever we leave the EU ( the EU are the ones still controlling our exit) and the EU starts a retaliation against Britain, I don't think Spain would obey their rules. Spain and France are notorious for choosing which one's they like.
However, the world is a rapidly changing place and incompetent politicians seem to be in every country these days, so best not to take anything for granted. Here in the UK, politics and the law now seems open to any foreigner with enough cash to finance a law inquiry, and get laws changed.

If you are living in Spain for more than 181 days ... within any 12 month period then you are obligated to become a Spanish resident...it's not always in your best interest to become a Spanish resident.. as all you world wide assets become taxable in Spain .
Would that 181 days be a continued stay or on and off over 12 months period?
Many thanks indeed.

181 days in a 12 month period...it doesn't need to be continues ...the 12 month period can start at any month of the year....so if you start your stay on 1st march 2019 your year ending would be 1st march 2020 if you stay anymore than 181 days within this period you need to leave the country and not return for 6 months or register as a resident..
Firstly nothing will suddenly happen. You won’t be slung out. If you are living here you have options. But check the websites from the British gov Brexit site. Let there be no panic. But if you can get an Irish passport it would help considerably 😍
