We found TUI was one of the few airlines that would take our cats but be sure you have the right carriers to put them in. Once over here there seem to be lots of companies who drive pets across advertised in papers like Euro Weekly News etc so check them out online. Good luck.

If your pets do not have passports currently you won’t have time to bring them over in a couple of months.

Firstly they need micro chipping, then need a rabies injection, then you have to wait 4 MONTHS after that before being allowed to travel. My dog had a titre test ( blood test) after the 4 months to confirm he had sufficient antibodies. He did and a certificate was issued. This  certificate ( sheet of paper!) is for his lifetime. We were asked by our Spanish vet to show it. I believe this will be required after 31 st December when current Pet Passports won’t be valid. In Spain rabies boosters must be done annually. Hope this helps. Jaz

The blood test was a recommendation from Defra when we were supposed to leave the EU at the end of June 2019, travelling back to the UK after that brexit day!

We did the drive back from near Camposol to the UK in November 2019 with our small dog, all through Spain & France. If you want any info on the journey ( in return for you) am happy to share our trip!

Yes Brittany ferries to Bilbao or Santander is our usual choice but as someone posted the " dog cabins" on board are like " hens teeth! We usually book one a year in advance, there are only 17 on Cap Finistere  they have " kennels" on the upper deck- cages, quite often they are available close to sailing dates- but you are not allowed to go anywhere but the designated " dog walk" ( ie pee/ exercise  etc area) then back to kennel or cabin !
