Don't forget that dogs need to be on a lead at all times outside of your property ie you can't take them out and let them run. If you take them in your car they must be in the back and tethered. Some people have had really heavy fines for not complying. None of these rather absurd rules seem to apply to Spanish people.

Having been in Spain for many years and having a Spanish wife the rules about dogs in cars is the same here as in the UK also any European country.

Dogs being tethered in the back is correct for yours and the dogs safety and the rules apply to both Spanish and any other nationality that is driving a vehicle.

We have 2 very large German Shepherds and have been stopped by the police to check on the dogs in Murcia City, Madrid also in Italy as I said before where the laws also apply.

There are also many doggies parks and defined beaches where you can let your dogs off the lead to socialise with other dogs and people.

Unfortunately some people live a very sheltered life, do not like dogs and seem to think that the Spanish (remember we are in there country) are treated separately to others.

I am sure you are responsible dog owners, but please do remember to clean up after your dogs.

Enjoy Spain and explore there is a fantastic country outside Camposol.

Regards

Ed

I had dogs in the UK all my life, mainly GSD's. I had a cage in the back of my vehicle but there was never any mention of tethering and as I was working with the Police on training GSD's I think I would have heard of it. The Police dogs are never tethered in the Police vehicles in the UK.

Here on Camposol people have been fined for having dogs off lead in public places. Dogs are not allowed on most of our beaches in the Puerto and neighbouring areas although I do often walk my dogs on the beach during the winter and nobody seems to mind. I would like to know where these doggy parks and defined beaches are, maybe you could enlighten me.

One person here was actually fined rather heavily for not having their dog tethered in their car, they were photographed by a police helicopter. I am in favour of letting dogs have a good run, you just have to know to be careful where you do it.

There are 2 dog friendly beaches in the port of Mazarron.

Doggie parks are in most Spanish towns in Murcia we have at least 4 within a 10 min walk and in Santiago La Ribera where we also have a place there is 2 agin within 10 min walk.

Just look for the big parks and you will see areas fenced off with running water ramps, rings made of tyres all for the dogs to enjoy.

Ed

I have been told that dogs are not allowed on any of the beaches in Mazarron.

Secondly we do not have any parks such as you describe, if you know the location of any I would be grateful.

I believe that one of the beaches to the south of Mazarron, nearest to Bolnuevo is pet friendly, in fact possibly called Playa Canina or something like that.  We bought on Camposol because of the wonderful land which surrounds it (but have not yet brought our dogs out for a holiday)but I do see a lot of signs asking people to clear up after their dogs (quite rightly so), so I'm sure Suse3, you and your furry friends will love it on Camposol

There is a lot of land surrounding Camposol but much of it is privately owned and dogs and their owners are not tolerated. Some people were arrested by the Guardia last year for walking their dogs on such land. Also much of this land is used for shooting and can be exceedingly dangerous to enter. There is some land bordering B sector, leading down to the sewage works which is quite safe although people do come there to shoot the rabbits, if you hear gun shots just leave. The only other problem is that at the beginning of the year much of this land is infested with processional caterpillars which can be deadly to dogs. There is land on D sector leading to the ruined Finca which so far I have found to be safe. Do your homework, be sensible and you will enjoy your walks.
