Hi my wife and I are coming over to Camposol next week for a few days with a view to buying a property. For taxis, restaurants and  day to day expenses should I bring euros or is the uk credit cards ie. Barclays, Halifax accepted.

Most places will accept debit & sometimes credit cards. I haven't used taxis, but would expect them to accept cards too.

However, many venues (restaurants & bars in particular) have a minimum payment level, commonly 30 €.
I've not had any bother at supermarkets using my Wise or Caixxa cards.
Many Spainsh now pay at tills with their phones, linked to bank accounts.

And

You will pay a premium £ > € exchange rate on your transactions.

Buying a coffee for 1.5 € ? You need cash.

@Gerry67

Cards of all types are widely accepted.

Make sure you select pay in euro when using any cards.

Not come across the 30 euro minimum spend in restaurants & bars though.

Use a Santander credit card or one of several others for fee free spending.

Use a Santander debit card to withdraw euro from a SANTANDER ATM.

Even better open a Wise.com euro account put GBP in it when the exchange rate is good then use their debit card

for your expenditure.

If you are going to purchase a property do NOT allow your solicitor or anybody to open you a bank account.

They have a nasty habit ( probably take a commission ) of opening bank accounts that charge you exorbitant fees.

Hi,

you can pay with a credit card anywhere now, the best methods are Halifax Clarity, Santander World credit cards as they give you wholesale exchange rates (Mastercard rate is better than Visa)

you can buy your drinks, meals, day to day spending without the need to obtain any cash from home as this is the most expensive way to spend

hope this helps

Hi Gerry

most tastes are catered for to be honest and we have eaten at them all and quality is great at all, we prefer the Chinese as the tourist menu is great and what is in effect a 3 course meal plus drink for £15 average for 2 (always pay with my Clarity card) Piccolos and Spice Villa are also top notch (Spice Villa the best of 3 Indian Restaurants on Camposol in my opinion). The Grove has the best chef ever with awesome quality but you do pay for the privilege, The Bulgarian whilst great quality we found to be a little bland but that is individual taste and not a slight on the restaurant

as I said in my earlier post we never take nor use cash as not required and with the more common use of tapping your card it is even quicker to use card over cash

Pub wise if you want sport all cover this for free but we prefer Shenanigans as the atmosphere is great and you can wind up the West Ham and the Spurs fans when they lose hahahaha

there are also regular events and night life such as 80's and tribute artists all for a very reasonable price

when you venture further afield Cards are just as welcome and there is so much to explore

enjoy the journey you will be bitten by the Camposol love bug as it is such a great place with a lot of very awesome friendly people
(did a quick edit as being corrected by others on minor word differences can be a little confusing haha)

hope this helps

Hi

Chinese on camposol is not a buffet. Gran mundo in port is.

For fish n chip Friday black bull opposite the garage on B is fab.

Trevi bar on B do great tapas cheaply Wednesdays and Fridays 4 until 8.

Marianos on A is very cheap. Anas on A great value for Sunday lunch.

Piccolos is great. Grove is expensive. New grill opened in Alley Palais but not tried it yet. Costa cafe next to consum do a great breakfast. Blackbull also do a fab Saturday night steak night and Sunday lunch too.

Not found anywhere on camposol that does great pizza.

There is a Spanish restaurant opposite the little white church past the garden centre on A and we have had nice paella there

Quality Indian on b is good. Everyone has their faves. Enjoy finding yours.
