HI Just had email from Caixia bank reference new banking charges 60 euros a quarter, we are non residence with no pension or salary live in the UK. Our UK Bank is Santander what are are our options what charges are levied by other Spanish Banks is there any free banking or Banks charging lower fees.

Thanks

Open a Cajamar Werrent account.

It free to use and you get a debit card.

Or open a TransferWise Borderless account

Big thread on here about it.

Just search for Banking / Costa Calida in the search box.

Hi, I have written lots of replies to posts recommending Cajamar,s "Weferrent" online account and pleased to see Roland is someone who acted upon my advice after much discussion. There are many earlier posts if you search "free banking" in everywhere as the location, and you,ll see my replies to posts. As my replies have often been lengthy with our experience and tips on opening, without repeating it all again, please do a search. It took me a month of researching all Spanish banks for a free bank for non residents and we,ve been with them a year now without any fees and very happy with their service. As this question crops up so much I may do a post myself for people to refer to without searching for my replies. I,m not very techy and dont know how to do a link so maybe learn that trick to make it easy to find too.

Regards

Pauline.

To all of those who provided information about the fee free Cajamar account, thanks.

I have found the information online in English however when I click on the application page it is in Spanish. I can complete in Spanish but before doing so just want to check if there is an English language application page that I haven’t found?

Thanks..

You will not be able to open the account online as far as I know.

You will have to go into a branch.

You will need NIE certificate passport and proof of earnings all hard copies as they will want to scan them.

We didnt have to show any income. We didnt even show our Uk pension. We took latest bank statement from old bank Sabadell and passports and NIE,s and our copy of deeds for address. If you are resident it should allow online application but non residents must apply in branch.

Pauline.
