We need to set up a Direct Debit from our bank to pay our IBI.  I believe we need to get a form from the Ayuntamiento in Mazarron first to take to our bank.  Is it from the offices on C. San Antonio (the impressive building on a corner)or round the corner on C. Gomez Jordana which is a smaller building with dentist like waiting room and you collect a number to see an officer at a desk. (been to that one before).  I would be grateful if you could just prompt me in the right direction please.

We used Pals our solicitors to arrange this for us.

I asked my solicitors to do this as well.

You can do it online but it is a real pain as some of the banks are not listed on the Council payment website.

Unfortunately, when we bought in 2009 we asked our solicitor to do this - he didn't and we had a huge bill taken from our bank.  I believe its just a case of getting this form which we will try when we next come out in February.  I had to go to this office to pay the IBI so I guess its the same to get the Direct Debit mandate.

I may be confused but you said you had a huge amount taken from bank account which I,m assuming by Suma for your Ibi.(Suma is the collecting company for government payments) Therefore that implies you already have a direct debit set up and next payment will be next September/October. My payments are yearly, dont know if you can pay monthly/quarterly or 6mnthly. Sounds like your solicitor did avise Suma but somewhat late!

Pauline.

You will also have received a late payment penalty as well.

Perhaps you should be having words with your solicitor regarding the penalty payment ??
