Hi All,

Opened current account with Sabadell this year. Got charged fees of 29 euros in March. I thought fair enough that must be the charge for the    year. Now I have just had another fees charge of 35 Euros. Is this right? Do they roughly charge 30 Euros every 3 months to use your own account? This seems high to me, roughly 120 Euros a year in bank fees. Any help/advice would be most kind.

Cheers Dave

Bankia bank charge me 5 euro per month so your charges sound very high to me.

People that use Sabadell will have more info for you I am sure

Hi Dave,

We’re with Sabadell and our charges are about the same, I did query this and was told that this is because we are not residents, ours is a holiday home. They did offer free banking but wanted us to transfer around a €1000 monthly which was much more than I need to cover bills etc. It’s one thing buying a villa in Spain but you also have the ongoing costs when not here. If anyone does know of cheaper banking that would be good to know but we were told, it’s not UK.

Thanks Paul & Sandra, we are the same and it is a holiday home. Hopefully someone else will reply with a cheaper alternative

Cheers Dave

10 euro per month for a bank account is way too much.

We too are with Cajamar, and it took 3mnths of investigating before I found they offer free banking to non residents(and seem like only Spanish bank that do). No restrictions, no monthly deposits, only drawback is their app isnt in english and google translate doesnt work with it, but website translates and their staff in 2 branches near me have no english either, but we are very much inland. Maybe your Camposol area will have english speakers as its an expat area. Leave Sabadell quick. You cant cancel from Uk has to be in person at your branch and Cajamar needs opening in person not online as your id for online isnt accepted. Also I took all our direct debit info from Sabadell,s statements and they did the switch, but I followed them up myself as they didnt come out when expected so suggest you do that bit yourself.

Good luck

Pauline.

Yes that is right. It's expensive for non residents but you need to consider service as well. My Sabadell branch have always been very helpful and speak good English as well. I suppose you get what you pay for.

Try Ing Direct - no charges. There are a few branches in case of need but otherwise all online and all free

Hi All

Thank you very much for all the tips so far, I will look into them all. It's the transferring of the direct debits, water, electric that I'm most worried about. Don't want to get cut off! Anyone use Caixa bank?

Cheers Dave
