Spanish Sim Card: where to buy and best deals?

My wife and I visit Camposol about every 6 weeks for approx 7-14 days at a time. We have broadband in our property so with skype and face time we no longer need our mobile phones for calls back to the UK. However if we want to make calls within Spain, we are charged £3 a day to switch on our English network and then additional charges for calling Spanish numbers via the UK on our phones. As we have some old unlocked phones, we would like to know if we can buy 2 sim cards and use the phones ONLY for calls within Spain and to each other when we are out and about. We will not be using the phones for internet searching or data roaming. We would like to know if there is a Spanish/local sim card that we can use on a pay as you go, that covers this. We do not want contract sims. Any advice would be appreciated. Michael

Hi Michael,

We went to The Phone Shop in Cabo Roig. Coming from Alicante and towards Cabo Roig you pass Tony Ellis, the lighting shop etc are on your left. Just entering the roundabout you can see The Phone Shop off the roundabout to the left. It is a bit difficult to get onto that street. You have to go to the next roundabout and cut back. The fella in the shop is called Vladimir and he is very helpful and knowledgeable. We bought a pay as you go sim card.

Hi Michael, I have had several payg spanish sims over last 10yrs and now have the best- Hits mobile!!.At first it was 9cents a min for a spanish call but had to top up 3 mnthly but now I pay 2€ yr to keep my no and no more 3 mnthly topups(was a pain cos we only visit 2/3 times a yr) and I now pay only 5cents a min +the obligitory connection fee which all spanish sims have(15cents).

Their website is very good english and you can topup on there by card and their custr services are in english- you ring and tell them that youre english when you first get it from supplier and in future everything is in english.Calls between hits ie.hits to another hits are free- this would suit you perfect.I honestly cant praise them enough but there are few distributors so you may have to search in your area(but go on website and it will show where they are.)We have a house in Villena and got one from the internet cafe and they are the best ever.Sim was 10€but 5€ worth of calls was incl.

Thank you for your information. This is exactly what we were looking for, so are arranging to buy 2 sim cards , hopefully via their website or via one of their shop outlets. Kind regards Michael
