To the two women who used their shopping trip to Consum - at about 4pm yesterday - as an excuse to stand in the shopping aisle and catch up on their ‘social essentials’ rather than their shopping essentials, removing their masks to interactive more closely and standing within spitting distance of each other....some of us want to live through this pandemic.  Some of us have vulnerable people for whom we are shopping and to whom we return after each outing hoping we haven’t run into some selfish moron flouting the social distancing rules.  To those two women I would respectfully tell them to get a grip and try to consider the consequences of their actions. You didn’t leave enough room for other shoppers to get past at a safe distance and seemed oblivious to the dangers that people like you pose to the community at large.  If you can’t behave with consideration towards others.....STAY AT HOME!!!

Took the words right out of my mouth. But are a safe distance naturally!!  Not belittling or having a go, just asking the question?

I didn’t speak to them. I felt that if they were too stupid and selfish to know how to behave, given the amount of time we have all had to understand the seriousness of this awful situation, then they were probably too stupid and selfish to give a damn about any one else’s comments. Some people know how to behave and some people will always be of the opinion that the current policies don’t apply to them.  What can you do? Turn around and make your way along the next aisle and hope there aren’t any more like them around the corner.

Aye, perhaps they were from that 'Stupid' thread on here a few days ago, they appear to have infiltrated!?

Annief,I totally agree with your comments. Surely Consum should have staff in place to monitor and move on/remove these idiots?

Selfish and stupid eh... and you prefer to shout about it on an internet forum rather than just ask them to move to one side and to keep their distance from others?

You’re absolutely right, Mags 44.  I have probably totally misjudged them.  I should have engaged with them, in spite of the fact that that would have required either standing closer than was safe, or shouting to them from 2metres away. It’s entirely possible that they were completely unaware that there is a GLOBAL PANDEMIC that is killing thousands of people every day. I shouldn’t have assumed that they may not have understood why EVERYONE ELSE in the store was keeping a sensible distance from others and wearing face masks. It’s not as if everyone is talking about it at the moment!!! One of them WAS wearing a mask, but that may have been because she is an ardent follower of fashion and thought that everyone else was wearing one because it is the latest fashion craze.

Probably safer to vent off on an internet forum than have a face to face confrontation ??
