To be fair, I think the uk government has done the correct thing based on the spike in Spain

We are supposed to be flying on 0408 and will still do so assuming that easyjet does not cancel the flights like tui has

It suits the UK unemployed coming to spend their giros, as they are not bothered about 14 days in the house when they return (wonder if social services would stop the dole as they are not available for work?). It badly affects people with jobs who cannot work from home (and will the Transport Minister isolate when he goes back.

another problem is insurance as the FO advisory basically make it void. can't really rely on the EHIC.

Bottom line is that removing Spain from the air corridor is the right thing to do based on the medical statistics

Although not expected we all know and should accept that this will happen if there are other spikes anywhere in the world. If Spain reacts quickly to control the spike then the air corridor will be reviewed and reopened

It is the correct thing to do

Strange how the UK government gave British citizens 2 weeks' notice when they brought in the compulsory wearing of masks in the UK, despite their covid numbers being out of control and yet give people who are on holiday in Spain less that 10 hours' notice. The rise in covid numbers in Spain, is mainly limited to small pockets and are being controlled by the local health authorities and we are told that the outbreak in Totana is all one family group, so why the blanket ban on everyone currently in Spain? The Canary Islands and the Baleares have really low covid numbers and yet are all being lobbed into the same group as the rest of Spain. Maybe the person making the decision is geographically challenged?

Do you really think people on jobseekers or unemployed are still coming to spain ? Maybe when you used to get more pesatas  for your pound, it's almost like for like now, were not in the eighties.

Don't worry about him, he  always has a bigoted and/or negative view on everything and anything. I'm sure he does it to get a rise out of people, just block him as many of us have.

The sort of people who will suffer most are those hard workers, like my sister. She has been working her socks off in food retail (long hours, very few days off) as a significant percentage of her colleagues have stayed away from work for months just to "be safe", leaving the store very short handed.

She desperately needs a break and now her upcoming week to visit us is being denied her unless she breaks quarantine or gets her boss to allow her the extra time, neither likely to happen.

Although the spike may be limited to certain areas the numbers given are for mainland Spain. Imagine the outcry if the government did nothing and all those returning lead to a 2and wave in the UK

This is precautionary based on information provided and although unfortunate for those that travelled it is still the correct reaction to take

As soon as Spain controls these spikes and the numbers reduce then I am sure that Spain will be back on the air corridor list
