Check reviews on car rental companies before going for cheapest option. Remember there is also bus service from outside arrivals door going every 2 hours down to cartagena n stopping most towns. Also remember if not taking insurance to check the car for every scratch. N stain inside n out and some will insist on deposit on credit card only. G Centauro are decent if reasonably priced.   Ryanair website has good car rental part that covers alicante. Good Luck
