Hi,I sold my car in UK & bought over here, right hand drive for one, getting it changed over, headlights,Costs to import it in Spain, taxes,Costa of guestor to pay,UK cars full rust.better to buy Spanish, don't rust, every thing is already done,no tax,no fees, only transfer fee,but Cost a lot more to buy,but will last twice as long.if you have the money to buy new get some good deals.

be very aware if buying privately there are many pitfalls as unpaid tax/fines stay with the car, best using a dealer as you will pay more but as others have posted less risk and Spanish cars do tend to be better build quality etc

Hi

It’s about making sure that you have all the correct documentation to register the vehicle in your name. I was about to buy a car in UK from a dealer in Derby who assured me that they would be helping to do the transfer of ownership in Spain. I’d already bought a Spanish registered car from the owner in Alcazares and used Costa Calida Services to do the transfer. So having used them before I checked with them to make sure that I would have everything if I bought the one in UK. Fortunately for me they informed me that I did’nt and that the car in UK had outstanding debt against it. My advice if you’re buying a Spanish reg in UK would be to check with them or some similar organisation - you only need the reg.

If the car has a Spanish registration then you can check against all the pit falls being mentioned on here by using CARFAX it will inform you how many owners, any debts, if it has been in an accident or stolen at any time.

Buying a car in Spain is no different from any other country just beware as you would with any large expenditure.

Carfax obviously charge a small fee but well worth it, I was buying a car from a main Ford dealer who told me the car had 2 owners? Carfax showed 7 the dealer said sorry and lost the sale 🙂

Do not take the risk, best off buying in Spain
