Very helpful member
Go to : www.viamichelin.com. their calculate every thing for you. Type in you car make, also you can look at alternative routes i.e. Ferry Dover - Calais or train, Portsmouth - St. Malo or Bilbao/Santander.....
Its also interesting to see: through France via Paris or Le Mans, with toll roads or without...look for the driving time.
Look up in Spain driving via Madrid or Valencia....

We have driven from Essex to Pto de Mazarron several times. We found that the route Calais-Reims to Lyon was the fastest and most relaxing, it took us 2 days and last time the overall cost was about 650€. But its different now as some tolls charges have been removed in Spain this year.
Hi Lyn43
We drove down to Camposol last year from Nottinghamshire. We took the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry cross country to Orleans to join the motorway there.
Depending what car you have, we used around 150 litres of fuel in our 2.2 td. Around €200
Tolls about €100, probably less now as some tolls have been removed
And an overnight stay at about €90
That is one way, then you have the same coming back. Hope this gives you an idea, although this doesn't take into account meal/coffee stops along the way.
It is a great drive once you get through central France. The views in the mountain regions are breathtaking, well worth doing even if just the once. Enjoy your trip.
