We are going to be driving from UK to Camposol next month. Which is the best route recommended by anyone who does this journey. Will be driving car with 2 adults and a dog. Thanks in advance for any advise

In these tough times the safest route has to be through the channel tunnel on Eurostar you stay in your car on the train but it's then an 18 hour drive from Callias to Mazarron so you would need to either camp overnight or stay in a dog friendly hotel if there are any open. There are a couple of different routes but you will find that the traffic is a lot lighter than in the UK and there are toll roads which needs careful planning if you decide to avoid the tolls, good luck it's a lovely trip with great scenery.

Hi, routes can be planned on AA Route planner or ViaMichelin and requisites can be found at CAB Spain.

Hope this helps

Hi there,

Could I, please, ask if you're information of travelling across France to Spain has been confirmed.

The reason I ask is  because I was going to return in mid June but have been informed that when I arrive at the other end of the tunnel I'll be asked where I intend to do the 14 day quarantine in France.

Even though we would be travelling in our motorhome across France, as our home in Camposol is not our primary residence nor do we qualify under the other French criteria I've been told we would be turned around at Calais.

I'm told this is being enforced because of the 14 day quarantine being enforced in the UK on anyone crossing from France

Any help would be appreciated.

.

I really would not be making any firm plans just yet if I were you. Currently there are lots of rumours but very little certainty.

Hi chevybaz, I’m in the exactly same position as you.

I have bought a new home on Camposol, but I’m still living in France as my house Sale here fell through, but now leaving it with the estate agents to sell.

I’m hoping to travel down with my 2 cocker spaniels, trying to find a dog friendly place for an overnight stopover, maybe a real task.
it would be a long journey to turn back if there’s a problem at the border.

I’m still watching the news for the best way to proceed.

Harry

👍🙂

Hi Harry,

When you do get the chance to travel down I've found the Accor/Ibis hotels are great for overnights with the dog. They charged about 5 euros for the dog. When I'm slowly making my way down - I like the 'west run down' (Calais to Bordeaux then across the border at Irun), I've used the Ibis at Rouen and the one at Saintes - not sure if that's any help as I don't know where you are in France.

By the way I've decided to head back and have booked Jet2 into Corvera on the 1st July. I think if a 2nd wave hits, we're probably more protected at our place on Sector D than back in UK.

Here's hoping

Hi,

Thank you for your email reply to my message.

Yeah, I’m looking at almost the same route as I’m about 3 hours from Bordeaux.

I’ll also check those stopovers you kindly mentioned.

I’m hoping to do the journey over a couple of days so no real rush.

Thank you

Harry
