In order to be legally imported into Spain, your vehicle needs to be inspected by a matriculation engineer to confirm that they match the specification on the logbook. (This is a one-off process).  If you have a certificate of Conformity (CoC), this stage can be skipped.

It then needs an import ITV (MOT) inspection. Cars are then re-tested every 2 years (For cars over 10 years old, the testing is undertaken annually). This ITV is more expensive than a standard inspection as the car is being imported

The necessary documents are then presented to authorities that issue all of the relevant Spanish paperwork and your statutory, legal fees, taxes etc. are paid.

Then you can get it onto Spanish plates.

In addition, you will be liable for road tax and registration tax is due on most vehicles coming into Spain.

However, your car may be tax exempt if the CO2 emissions are less than 121 g/Km

Try Spanish Number Plates

Hope this helps (fixed link to website above!)
