I have family coming over in June and they will need to hire a car for 8 days. Where is the best hire firm.

we have used firefly before but don't know if there in Corvera yet, best suggestion is book via your flight people (Ryanair we have used before) have a scheme if you book flight with them then they offer a discount on car hire, you will need to investigate.

I really do hope this is helpful for you. x

Hi avoid goldcar. I have used flamenca with no hidden extras. For the next few trips I have booked ahrentals who are based on sector b. Again no hidden extras. Neither require a credit card. With ahrentals they will pick you up from the airport take you to your car on Camposol. You then take it back to b sector and they then drive you back to the airport. They were about the same price as flamenca. Both have full insurance with no excess.

Hi I have previously hired cars via Ryanair and they used to be with Dickmans who I had no problem with but last time I visited they were advertising Firefly who were the cheapest. I did take the collision damage waiver insurance with Ryanair and wanted to book an additional driver which said do this when picking the car up.

On arrival I went to the Firefly desk, I accept the initial hire charge was reasonable but at the desk i was subjected to extremely hard sell tactics to buy additional insurance and I was given warnings of the consequences if I didn’t take out the insurance. Initially they refused to accept the Ryanair collision damage insurance and after standing my ground they changed their position on this but still pushed other insurance, eventually I agreed to pay around €30 as a top up for unlimited mileage etc, I just wanted to get on my way. They accepted the additional driver and asked formy daughters driving licence and my signature, I was happy to pay the extra for this. On my return they refunded the €950 held on my Visa card and then sent me an email questionnaire to rate them. They then took a further unknown payment from my Visa card which I challenged via Ryanair. They took this up for me and the additional payment was for additional airport tax, which I knew nothing about but had signed to accept when signing to pick the car up, the forms were all in Spanish.

I would look at others advice but the answer here is be careful of all the additional costs and the big push to get extra money out of you. I will be visiting in April and have booked car hire with Ryanair again but have steered we’ll clear of Firefly.

Hi there Anthink. We came over to Camposol last May and hired a car from Wiber. I don`t know which airport your guest`s are using but we used Alicante, and I checked with Wiber only a couple of weeks ago, and they are not as yet in Corvera.

They collected us from the airport and took us to their offices 5 minutes away. There we collected our car, nothing fancy (a four door Nissan), for 7days costing £105 for the week. Nothing else to pay. Insurance was fully covered, with no hidden extras or credit cards, just full tank to full tank on return. Would definitely use them again, as all others request to hold money from your card. Good luck.!!!
