Just make sure you get the correct IDP. If you are driving through France you need a different IDP to the one valid for Spain. Sorry, I did not make up the rules!

Typical EU.....confusion everywhere! Once again the good old UK doesn't impose anything on foreign EU drivers visiting us. No additional driving license, no visa etc etc.

Hi if you are there for a visit and will return to th UK before 31st October you wont need one. If you are going after 31st in the event of a no deal I would recommend getting one. You get it from a main post office in the UK and it is issued there and then. Take you UK driving licence and passport.

rma44, That's not confusion, EU or otherwise. That's simply different EU countries having different laws regarding non-EU drivers. They make thier own laws... which is one plank of Brexit. Why is it regaining sovereignty when UK wants to do something but EU confusion when EU countries do something else? There are consequences for decisions, some useful and convenient, others not so. Grow up, take responsibility for the consequences of your own decisions without whinging or blaming others. Of course, all of that IDP fandango is only in the event of a no-deal Brexit. If there is an agreement, then current rules apply during the transition period until a permanent arrangement emerges.

You will still be able to drive in Ireland without an IDP, deal or no-deal and you'll be welcome there but please don't whinge.
