Dear All,

Bought a property in Camposol, section D in August 2019. Because of the Covid-19 situation, hasn't be able to enjoy at all and haven't stay there since Dec 2019.

Do I have to be living there to apply for residency? If yes, for how long?

Is it still possible for me to apply for residency before 31 Dec 2020?

Hi yes you need to live here. You need to be on the padron 1st. The residency process is changing all the time and you can now apply online. As long as the application is submitted by the end of the year you will be fine. I suggest you use a translator such as fiona harvey who was brilliant for us. Her email is [email protected]

You need your padron , and then would need to apply for your TIE, no longer the residencia. This is only available from Murcia main police building. You will need to go at least 2x. You can only go with an appointment.  First time, to submit all your details, and to have your fingerprints taken. You will need to have filled in the forms, and paid for them through a Spanish bank, and your photos, and maybe the other requirements for non EU members.  Look up the schengen rules on the Spanish government website. The second time, ( once again appointment only) to receive your TIE card and to check your fingerprints. Your card will have your photo on it and will state you have temporary rights to stay here. It is definitely  easier if you pay for a translator, who knows exactly what they are doing. The cost of the TIE card is 12 euros. Your translator will be a lot more, but I think worth it.

If you have all the paperwork Fiona presents it now telematically which means no need for an application appointment. Murcia have taken on extra staff so the process is quicker. A lump sum is no longer required. You need to prove you can sustain yourself.

You still have to attend twice. They need to take your fingerprints, and then when you pick up your card they retest your fingerprints. Our translator Inez, also obtained our forms on line, so we went in with all necessary paperwork. Once in there it was very efficient.  If you already have a green residencia , then they do not have to produce proof of income. If you are new then you do. Sunny Spain do you know how much is required? I was told it was the equivalent of the spa ish pension, which is about 2,000 euros per month.

Hi we applied in july so process has changed. We only needed to go once and get fingerprints done in Cartegena. Fiona presented all the correct paperwork.

We, in July, needed just over 9000 in our Spanish bank account.
