NLV and TIE

Scenario A: Some police stations calculate the card's expiration exactly one year from the day the client physically crossed the border into Spain (which aligns with my understanding).

Scenario B: Other police stations are strictly tying the TIE expiration date to the expiration date printed on the visa vignette in the passport, regardless of when the client actually landed

Is the correct procedure. However, in the  typically Spanish way each station / area seems to have its own idea on interpretation. Hence my question if anyone recently had got their first TIE in the Camposol area and what there expiration date they [police] placed on it.

... most places are a bit slack with this.

The important bit to remember is that to get renewal to 2 years you must have exceeded 183 days and registered as tax payers. If you time to be exactly 183 you will be causing a nightmare for yourself. 

You only have to do over 183 days and not in one continuous period, you can come and go to Spain but they could look at that as not settling here. As you have your NLV why not come over, arrange your Padron providing you have somewhere to live and then apply for the TIE. You can do it while waiting to sale in the UK but also dont forget, if you sale your UK home in the same tax year as buying here you could be hammered for capital gains.

Be careful about your absences from Spain while on NLV. In the 5 years you can only be absent from Spain for a total of 10 months in the five years and for no longer than 6 months in any  year.

This is checked when you go for year 2/3 and 4/5 and is the most common reason for refusal of renewal or permanancy ...
