I dread to think what you got paid! Only a few year's back a friend of mine worked part time for them as a pilot, and he had to pay them. All Ryanair would say was that he was keeping his commercial flying hours up! I'm glad I didn't bother with a commercial licence. Last year I had the misfortune to travel to San Javier from Stansted with Ryanair and had a long conversation with some of the cabin crew, which led me to ask why do they put up with it? Well, they have had several strikes since then and another planned for Friday.
Whenever I've checked fares on their site, by the time you add on all the 'compulsory' add ons, there doesn't seem to be much saving if any. As I said before, these are my personal views based on my experience, but going by what the public say at large, I'm not alone. Good luck to you if you're satisfied with them. Maybe you don't have much of a choice from your airport, but I'd have to be really desperate to use them again! Travelling these days is stressful enough without worrying if your flight is going to be cancelled at short notice.
