Hi pammy for a start your plant is not aloe Vera aloe Vera's are a succulent with thick juicy leaves that when you snap them off ooze the aloe Vera liquid that is so benificial and usefull..
I can't see you doing that with the plant that you have shown in the photo you seem to have some sort of palm there it is just flowering.

Hi Pammy
I would say looking at the photo you have a yucca plant and it dose look as though it is about to flower ( large white blooms)
As camermanjohn said Aloe Vera have succulent leaves and to be honest not a lot can go wrong with them, or Yuccas come to that.
Don't worry and see what happens

Hi, I think what you have is a century plant. If it is it will look gorgeous when it flowers. You might want to keep the seeds and plant another one because they usually die after flowering.

Hi , we think you are right , we have looked it up online and the picture looks exactly like our plant , they grow between 10 to 25 ft tall which ours is about 9 ft at the moment and they says it flowers once in its lifetime its actually growing at a rate of about 2ft per week
Great, I have a tiny little garden but my friend had one that flowered last year. it grew very tall and yes you can almost watch it grow it is amazing. the tree like flower is so impressive in real life. Wonderful.... the spanish call it the 100 year plant because the myth is that they only flower every hundred years but I believe it is just a myth. Thanks for getting back to me, so considerate. Fran
