3m x 3m aluminium pool on a roof top ??

You do know that a pool this size when filled to 1m deep will weigh around 9 tons ??

I hope you have had the roof loading professionally  checked !!

And the person that you find to put it together has liability insurance.

I have similar on my roof & so do lots of others with no issues for many years but you will get lots of people with negative opinions about it.

Thank you for that. I did have a professional give me advice. He said I would get a hot tub up there too. I am just looking for help with putting it together not a mass debate. I am not that blonde..... just not that technical.

Hi. Let's be clear, I'm not being negative at all, but in situations like this I always think it appropriate to make people aware of where they may be going wrong, or to where to seek real advice.

Obviously you have purchased your pool kit and you will ignore the so called negative advice. Knowing very well how MASA built their houses I would not dream of putting any weight like that on a MASA roof without getting a full structural survey in writing and underwritten with insurance. You say you had a professional opinion, I'm not sure what that involved or who the professional was, but if it was from the salesman I personally would have ignored it. I note he also said you could place a hot tub as well. You might well have room for it but did he do the sums regarding the loading on your roof......I'm guessing not, but correct me if I'm wrong.

You have had replies from people who have done this. They obviously took the risk and to date they have got away with it so far.........and it is a risk!

Believe me when I tell you not all MASA houses are built the same .....they were all built by sub contractors with no inspection. For example, I have seen corners not welded and just a bit of mortar thrown in to cover it up. They are built in a similar fashion to a house of cards, and are as strong as the weakest link.

Good luck to you and I hope you enjoy it, but please don't consider all replies as negative. I hope my comment might help anyone considering doing the same.

One important thing I forgot to mention. Tell your insurance company that you intend to put (whatever it is) on the roof terrace, and ask if you're still covered!

Dear RMA  sensible advice, at least you tried.

Trouble is if someone wants and someone wants to sell not a lot they will listen too.

Even a hot tub at 2-4 tons is still too heavy for any solarium unless there are several support walls directly below .
