Hi

Need to get a UK document legalised for use here in Spain. The FCO aren't currently doing it unless in an emergency.

Question is does anyone know of a company in the UK that they have used to have documents legalised.

The internet is full of them but I would rather use one that is recommended.

Thanks in anticipation

If you have a solicitor in the UK why not ask them if they can recommend somebody ??

Hi, it doesn't matter if a UK company or solicitor say they can do it for you as they ultimately have to involve the FCO and there is absolutely no way around it, apart from if you use the Spanish Embassy.  The UK solicitor/company (who must be registered with the FCO to prepare legislation documents) prepares the document (in our case a POA) and it goes to the apsotle/FCO for Legalisation. The FCO are the only ones in the UK who can legalise it, unless the Spanish Embassy route is taken and I think you have to do that route yourself.

We got a huge shock at the rules and limitations around this when we had to do it.

Sorry it's not better news but hope it helps :(

Hi we are in the same predicament and have chosen APOSTILLE of the Hague after checking through quite a few.
Can’t give you any more information I’m afraid as we are in the middle of processing it.

Hi Thanks for your replies. I have contacted the FCO and they have replied but will only take applications form already registered companies and individuals and won't offer any advice on who they may be.

They will take emergency applications in exceptional circumstances so I have found a company in Coventry who having checked their registration code with the Gov. website appear to be accredited and genuine.

I will try them but if you can let me have the details for the Hague that would be appreciated to get a comparison.

Regards

Yes I had already checked that out and Apostille of The Hague are registered. If you just google them you will get all the info you need.
Good luck with whoever you choose

We had to have a document legalised it was done by a solicitor, no problem. I think it cost £60 but that was a few years ago.
