Hi, we used eurotunnel from folkestone to Calais, 30 mins crossing, then just drive down over two days from Calais to Castalla, with one planned overnight stop in Bordeaux. Because we had two dogs we had to make numerous stops for them which extended the travel time. We will in future do two overnight stops. Budget hotels are averaging 60E per night plus 3E per dog, basic hotels for sleeping. A breeze on the non toll roads / motorway. Just set your satnav biased to non toll roads. Enjoy your ride down man.

Hi we moved to torre de la horadada December we used a transporter. he was brilliant pickup from Manchester and delivered on a transporter in three days later i think the cost about £600. It wasn't worth being sat in the seat for days

Have done both, overland Tunnell, Calais, Tours overnight stop, hotel 30 euro's , Pau overnight stop 30 euro's.
Over the Pyrenees, in March, no problem followed sat nav to Camposol. Clocked 1500 miles from Shropshire.
Left Pau at 0800 arrived Camposol 1900, had several stops as we had 3 dogs.
Ferry Portsmouh Santander 2o hours. Santander Camposol with two breaks 8 hours.
It is cheaper to drive overland with ferry prices being so high.
Have a safe journey and make sure you have all the accessories you have too carry particularky if driving through France.

Hi
We've done both several times. If your a good sailor I would do Santander or Bilbao as a very easy pleasant drive once out of the city. But beware it can be a long rough crossing as we found out last time. Calais is a quick and cheaper crossing ( we did Dunkirk as even cheaper but a lot more driving and fuel / toll costs plus one or 2 overnight accommodation.

Hi Roymansfield, were the overnight stops 30€ per person or per room? Also were the dogs allowed to stay in your room and what did they charge per dog?
Thanks
Excellent idea . Hadn't thought of that
Thanks

Hi Pam yes dogs allowed in room, price was 30 euro's for the room. There was no breakfast with the room.......I googled dog friendly hotels and found them that way. Did not try for rooms in Spain as the Spanish are not so dog friendly. No dog charges.
Thanks for the info, that'll help the old finances a little
Hi
Can you tell me which company you used please . I’m in Dover so a bit nearer than you were .. Great idea
