Thanks Ginger. Yes he knows that. It’s just that the people who reckon they got theirs so quickly make you doubt the people you have chosen to do it for you. 😁

Well as he’s younger and has to work, he naturally asked his accountant to do it for him as they deal with his taxes etc. Still don’t know why it should take so long though. So you have prompted me to chase this and I’ve been told they will chase it as it shouldn’t take this long!

Hopefully he will get it sorted sooner than later. Let us know how he gets on x

No idea if it is easy or not.

But you do have to be able to speak pretty good Spanish by all accounts.

We are in the same position. Pre registered intent to exchange driving licence early December. TIE applied for last September. Finally got resolution and had fingerprint appointment last week.

So went to see the gestor who pre registered the driving licence. Told we cannot now go ahead and exchange our licences. They are trying to find a way round this, They say there may be a new form needed which proves we applied for TIE in 2020. But this form doesn’t exist yet.
So right now we are stuck.

The Spanish and UK governments are still negotiating on many aspects and I am sure things will be clearer eventually. Problem is that there always seems to be misinterpretation of government rules on the ground, depending on the autonomous provinces so it creates confusion.

Maybe applying for an International driver's licence is a solution for now?

We are now officially Spanish residents. Followed the DGT guidelines as in pre registered intent with NIE whilst waiting for TIE.
So should now be able to get on with the swap now.
for some reason the rules changed last week. Maybe this is just how MUrcia are interpreting the rules.

As Spanish residents we cannot now drive using an international driving permit.

We followed the rules. Pre registered. But are now stuck unable to drive after June.

The DGT website still states that exchange can be done, as per the rules you followed, but Traffico Dept staff stated this was no longer the case.

Seems they are not following their own rules!
