Hi everyone. We are Paul & Linda. We are seriously considering buying and living in Camposol. Yes we have heard all the rumours and problems, show me a place that doesn't have some problems it's called Eutopia but I can't find it on a map. There are however a few conserns... my wife is just this side of being an arachnophobic, so what kind of crawlies are we to expect in the house ?  As a retired couple living permanently, what are our monthly costs likely to be approximately ? Last but not least are there any 2 to 3 month rentals on Camposol ? We don't ask much do we? Thanks

Your monthly living costs would be virtually the same as you now have in the UK - if you dine out, play golf, have a powerboat it will cost €xxxx, live like church mice much less.

Your IBI will probably be less than your UK council tax but you may have community fees (and these are not regulated), your car tax will possibly be less (though there are no free categories until you get into the "historic" age of the car) all other expenses will be the same or even higher, and you will not find the equivalent of ASDA own label like soup @ 45p a can, ready meals at 3 for £3, or M&S dine for 2 for £12!

You will pay towards your medicines rather than them be free, and as you get older will spend more on keeping cool in the very sweaty summers and warm in the very cold winters.

Plenty of creepy crawlies.

Not many actual spiders but plenty of other things.

Nothing major

Cannot help too much on costs as different for everyone. Can only say for 2 of us living a quite life 1.500€ a month sees us sorted, different for anyone eating/drinking out everyday.

Electric can be dear, cars cost more to buy but are cheaper to run. 135€ road tax on our Yeti, 150€ for a garage service ECT.

As for bugs and creepies, we have been here just over a year and have had only one cockroach in the house. One incident with very small ants, easily sorted with bait traps and an improved kitchen cleaning routine. You will hear noisy cicadas during the day and crickets at night but you will rarely see them. There are spiders of course but they don't seem to come indoors.

If you walk around the campo you'll have more chance of seeing lots more I'm sure, too got to do that just now 🌅.

As for long lets, could be with talking to the estate agents on Camposol, they'll surely have contacts.

Hi there,

We have lived here permanently for about 15 months. Before we purchased, we rented and took a good look around the area. Your idea of a rental is good and once August is over, the length of rental you are looking at should easily be achievable. Probably worth joining some of the local Facebook pages such as Camposol and Preguntas y Mas, where you will find answers to many questions. As for costs, many of these have been covered in the previous replies. The important thing to consider, if you are planning to move permanently is obtaining your TIE, S1’s and Spanish driving licences before the benefits of the Brexit transition period are lost at the end of the year. It it worth signing up to the Brits in a spain Facebook group (British Embassy site) and to look at the living in spain section of the gov.uk website. Good luck

Re: the money, that has been answered. Re: crawlies, not seen many spiders at all, a few flying bugs ( few, I said) worst I have seen is the cockroaches. Horrid things, but a good squirt of Oro  or similar and they disappear.  So, I would feel this is a safe area to come to.......

I am in the same position as you and have been reading all the forums during lockdown . What I have gleened from it all is , it`s best to go out and rent for a few months , speak to people who actually live there and to the estate agents , do viewings etc , get a feel for the place , that is what I intend to do , hope this helps in a small way .
