Replying to Martyn163 - in particular. This is a Forum for opinion is it not ? and this is mine ; appointing a specific policeman for Camposol could even cut the amount of resource given us from the real authorities when needed., as it would be seen as acceptable for us to "manage" with the one officer we are funding. What if - (God forbid) a psycho murderer came to live here from England, and proceeded to work his merry way through the populace ? I dread to think ! - No the police here in Spain are run on the lines of an army, so do not underestimate them.
Hi C,
Well your opinion, and thats what we are asking for, if the Negatives out weigh the Positives, then I will give up.
In my opinion, and having worked in the force, one policeman attracts another, we all like to meet up, support each other, have a cuppa, go on patrol with each other, and in particular, the bosses like to make a name for themselves by being there also.
I have to say this is the first negative received, but I need all sides.
Thanks.
Thank you for your opinion, and reply to C, I intend to push on with the idea, until the Negatives out weigh the positives, as you need the weight on your side to achieve.
Thank you so much, it is a idea at this stage, but I will meet our Councilor as soon as possible, and see if all is viable.
So far I have only had one Negative response, but thats the idea to get every ones view.

Thank you for that,
Just as a note, with about 2000 residents giving 3 Euros a month, that would pay for a car, office, and a patrol officer, I have been informed.
But we need the Negatives as well as the Positives, I will not enter into any arguments, if that starts, I will just bin the idea, and every one for themselves.
Just out of interest, please speak to the residents who have been broken into, and robbed in the street.

Dear Sdb137, - what a load of Tosh ! - What do you mean "one policeman attracts another" - I thought we were talking about funding ONE ? Meet up ! - have a cuppa ! - go on patrol with each other ? I think you are hoping to be that Hobby Bobby aren't you ? This is Spain not Little England. The Police force here carry GUNS !
l agree that IBI should cover local policing but should an unilateral presence be required l would think there is a need to fund more than one officer. Assuming 8 hour shifts that is 3 per day, assume 2 officers a shift would be required, add into that sickness, leave etc. Access to more than one vehicle would be required to cover mechanical failure, down time for servicing. Strongly suspect that that would come to a quite hefty bill. Overall l do not believe this to be a workable option, sorry.

Yes, Philtox, not only is it an unworkable option, it is not even a necessary one. This is another dreamer come to plague us with their bright ideas that are simply not thought through.!
To Christine 75, your opinion is as valid as mine or anyone else's and I welcome it. You may very well be correct in what you say after all we're just floating an idea here.
Best regards
Martyn
