Hi..recently moved in.I have erected a gazebo frame on the solarium. I need to drill down the bottom of the frame to anchor it.I have been told that the solarium floor should not be drilled as it would damage the water seal of the area.I am considering laying square concrete paving slabs or something similar at each corner & drilling into them. The tile/slab would need to be about 50cm (20ins) square for the gazebo frame to fit on.Does anyone know where I could buy some square slabs please.Or if you had to anchor down a frame using another method I would be very grateful.

Go to any of the local builders merchants they will have what you require.

Be warned though that even if you manage to anchor the gazebo down the wind will probably rip the fabric to bits !!

Sorry to interject but does this mean that Camposol is very windy ie. windier in general than anywhere else?

No windier than any where else.

Through the summer the mornings usually start of fairly calm then around 1 pm the wind can get stronger blowing until the early evening when it calms off again.

Not every day of course but that is our finding after 15 years or so.

The winds on the whole of the southern Spanish coastal area are perfect for Mary Poppins or kite-surfing, not so good for gazabos and the like. Your idea of securing it to concrete blocks is good, but then you need to secure the blocks to the floor! You can be holidaying here and happily sitting under the shade when a gust of 60mph wind appear like magic - before you have time to take down the material. Reckon on replacing the covering every 2-3 years, allowing for sun-rot and wind damage in our experience. You will wear out the velcro tapes soon enough if you keep messing about.

Agree with PeterC......sat there with a gentle wind then out of nowhere bam a blast of wind takes everything.

Reminds me of years ago when the wife said to me whats that up in the sky ??

It was a sun umbrella about 300 feet up in the air.

You can get weights ( some ranges need filling with sand or water ) that fix to the legs of the gazebo

That would be an alternative to having to ‘fix’ anything to the roof .....
