Hi
Hope someone can advise, we are looking to move to Camposol next year. My wife had a heart attack 5 years ago and is worried if something happens there,how quick is medical attention, as a main hospital is a distance away. Does anyone there have a similar problem, but feel happy with medical cover etc. This is the first time we have posted, so excuse if not done in the correct way.

Are you going to be on the Spanish health system or are you going private. If you have the Spanish system you will be able to go the the health centre on Camposol or the one in Mazarron for emergencies. If you are private you can only go to the health centre in the Port. In an emergency an ambulance would come from Mazarron to take you to the relevant health centre. In my experience having used this service several times, the ambulance takes about 30 minutes to arrive. We have a Paramedic service on Camposol called Fast who will assist you until the ambulance arrives.
Thank you for the reply, that was very informative and reassuring. My wife is retired so I guess if Brexit doesn’t change in Spain she will be covered. I am 6 years behind, so will have to go private for the first few years. Thank you again.

If your wife is officially receiving state pension you can piggyback on her rights. She will need an S1 form from DWP (I think look on line) have you named on it and you will receive same cover.

S1 certificate from DWP Overseas at Newcastle Upon Tyne. Look oh their website for number. As stated if your wife has retired and us in receipt of UK State Pension then you are covered, piggyback rights. I believe the S1 will only be sent to your overseas address, check this with DWP.

Yes I think you need to register as a resident then yr covered. Until then probably nhic will work
